Re: PHEONIX fishing rods ???????
They were a very popular Southern CA maker back in the 70s and 80s when graphite and boron became the primary rod material. I think Don Iovino is still pushing their rods...
Re: PHEONIX fishing rods ???????
I have two of their original 8ft flippin sticks..and have never found a better rod..period... I have three crankbait/spinnerbait rods and they are the best heavy duty rods...the shame is that they are no longer made by the same people and the warranty is not honored..... I have heard horror stories about guys sending them in to be repaired and never seeing them again...They were the best heavy duty rods made, it is a shame....until things change I wouldn't touch them..there are too many other good rod builders now to screw around with someone who doesn't take care of their customers.

Re: PHEONIX fishing rods ???????
Very interesting , JT..
Are they having problems with thier current rods, or is it that they are just not honoring the old rod warrantees made by prior ownership..?
How old are "the originals" ?
Curious...
What kind of price range do they sell for...and who sells them?
Thanks, again..

Re: PHEONIX fishing rods ???????
Phenix Rods is currently out of business. Larry and Pat Howard sold Phenix Rods to Ty Hessel a few years ago. Ty never got the company up and running after that though due to the high cost of warranty replacement and overhead. I was at the Proline factory the other day and did meet a gentleman that said that he had bought the "company" from Ty and that they have a blank supplier and that he was working to start the company back up again. I doubt though that he will honor any of the former owners warrantees. Thats all I know. Rick G.

So you did end up buying it--congrats on the new boat. I read your inquiries about it over on the BBC boards...Wild Bill wrote:By the way, I got a green R72 [1997].
