2. Florida
3. USC
4. Ohio State

and so on....

Ohio St wins by at least 4 TD's

Watch the magic!

IF.............

Post by Cooch »

Florida were to win tonight Dave, that is indeed how the Rankings should finish, except USC is not a top 3 team this season.

We all know, this will never happen, the BCS' Championship game is tonight, the winner here will be crowned National Champion! Boise St. got screwed big time!

I think you mean Florida WINS by 4 TDS !

Post by Gene »

And no way Boise St deserves #1 ranking with that weak schedule they play. Granted they were unbeaten but that win over Oklahoma who had nothing to play for and everything to lose can't be your only big win in a weak conference and weak non-conference.

As much as I thought Ohio St would take Florida tonight there is no mistaking who is #1. To bad Ohio St had 50 days and Florida 30+ days between their last games - no momentum from that big Michigan win for Ohio St.

Bottomline - they need a playoff!

Impressive win by Florida....

Post by StockOption »

....OSU had absolutely no answers. Too bad as the game itself was basically over by halftime.

I agree with Gene on both points. Also, I'll be surprised if Boise breaks the top 5 and this BCS crapola is a total stinkola. A playoff system is desperately needed.

Boise St. is fer real. The number one reason for their schedule outside of their division, is simply due to the pansy *** Division one power houses, will not risk their chance at a BCS title by going to Boise to play them, much less invite Boise to their home and git spanked by this upgraded Division 2 football team.

They spanked every team they played, with the exception of Oklahoma. This is what good teams do, they don't squeak by or have to come from behind against weaker opponants. And I don't buy that Oklahoma had nothing to play for, that was an out and out brawl! I watchd that game, Oklahoma couldn't handle em! You watch fer em next year, they'll be back! I've been watching them more than Cal & Standford the past three years, They got this nice little team up there, that nobody really wants ta play! LOL

I do agree, with all the time these teams had off, there's plenty of room for a college playoff. Someday, somwhere, over the rainbow.........yeah right  l

I beg to differ...

"They spanked every team they played"

Check out their last game versus San Jose St and tell me they spanked 'em. They were lucky to come out of that game with a 'W' winning 23-20. And they played Sacramento St of all teams which is not exactly your Division 1 powerhouse.

Sorry, but Boise St does not go unbeaten playing in the Big Ten or SEC or Big 12. Boise St got spanked bad, 48-13, playing Georgia the year before. And Georgia had a down year that year.

Don't get me wrong - I love what Boise St does and how they played and cheered for them against Oklahoma but the reality is kind of like watching a Rocky movie HA!

I think strength of schedule is a bogus arguement. Based on this logic, the San Diego Chargers shouldn't be the #1 seed in th eAFC because they had to play the Raiders twice (who suck).

So we end up with:

Florida
OSU
LSU
USC
Boise St.

I don't like the only undefeated team as #5. No matter who you play, it is quite a feat to hold it all together and win all your games.

Also, Under 100 yards offense in a title game with a heisman QB and heavily favored shouldn't earn you the #2 spot.

Just another good argument for a playoff system. And I don't think a team like Boise St could survive 3 weeks of playoffs. Cinderella teams wins a few games in the NCAA basketball tourney but rarely do they ever take that all the way to the championship. I just think the bigger conferences and schools ahve more depth and talent through a 3-4 game playoff than a Boise St or any otehr mid-major could handle. And once a team sees those gadgets plays it's hard to win with those every week.

I thin kwe should all boycott these bowl games until they give us a playoff system (and start paying the college players). These teams raked in over $15 million each last night - what a crock !

Agreed.

I had posted earlier for a simple playoff

1 vs 4
2 vs 3

Winner meets for title

and it's got to start in early December.

This 30-50 day delay between games is ridiculous or start the college season a week or two later or have a bye week or two thrown in everyone's schedule they things merge at the end of the year.

Thay need a top 8 playoff system in college football. That way a team like Boise who was # 8 plays.#1 and #2 get first round byes.Kinda like NfL.Fish'in Dave what are you thinking putting USC # 3 in your Rankings. So what if they beat MIchigan(who is my Favorite)USC dominated, but lost to UCLA who stinks and Oregon ST. who stinks.Michigan had a 47 day lay off.(no excuse)but in my pull I would'nt have USC in the top ten.......Also Boise #1.Come on...I would love to see a playoff system so a team like Boise can play for a title, but Florida deserves it....

Eight teams would do the most justice, but for thesake of timing and school commitments, I think 6 teams would be the max making 3 weeks out of it.

Like Gene said, start in early December. How about have all the games set by December 1st. Championship game be held on New Years Day. Done deal.

Here, here I resoundly second that motion....

One thing I did like is having a bowl game on (just about) every night this year, lets just change this and have a PLAYOFF game every night between Christmas and New Years -- works for me :)

I just cracked open a Miller Lite to make it official!!! LOL

I wholeheartedly agree with having a playoff but I don't think it will ever happen. Too many dollars involved.

BTW, here's the final top 5 from the AP Poll
1. Florida (64) 13-1 1,624
2. Ohio State 12-1 1,492
3. LSU 11-2 1,452
4. USC 11-2 1,389
5. Boise State (1) 13-0 1,383

to many dollars?

Post by Gene »

that's the whole point - you'll make more money with a playoff ! Just look at the NCAA basketball tourney and how much that generates.

I'm tired of watching meaningless bowl games with stupid names. Give us the 'meat and potatoes' bowl games where winner advances and loser goes home.

I am talkin about the money that the individaul bowls make. They could stand to lose money overall. If a team was in round 1, 2 and the championship game, their supporters may opt out of bowl 1 all together they know their team will advance), some will not attend bowl 2 (they know their team will make it to the championship) and them then bowl 3 will make the majority of the cash. What bowl organization will give up the possibility of revenue in the interest of the sport? NONE!

I am not talking about the Poulan weedeater bowl that had trouble reaching minimum attendance figures. If we are talking about a true playoff, here are the seven bowls I envision.

National Champinoship

Final Four -
Sugar Bowl
Orange Bowl

Elite 8 -
Fiesta Bowl
Rose Bowl
Gator Bowl
Cotton Bowl

These bowls all had sellouts. As an example, how many of the Gator fans would have traveled to Pasadena, then travel to Atlante, then travel to Glenadale to watch their team take it all the way? Not as many as traveled to Glendale for the BCS. Thats the idea, the bowls would lose money, thats why it would not happen. Again, I want a playoff as bad as anyone but it is not in the forseeable future. Kinda like me catchin a sting of ten pounders LOL!!!
