Do you feel represented in our Government?

Post by Fishin' Dave »

I for one feel left out in the political process. Let me break it down:

1. I come from the diverse state of California, yet my two Senators are left wing rich women with whom I share nothing in common with.

2. I live in a rural county, so my congressman looks out for things like wildfire prevention, and a few other topics, but I disagree with his other politics, but most folks live in a greeymandered district where the same party is almost guarnteed to win every time. The current congressional districts are bogus. Look up the boundries for Pombo's old district sometime!

3. I have a president whom I voted for twice who does not represent me. I had no other choice other than not to vote at all because I only have 1 other major party canidate as my alternative. I do not share core views with Al Gore and John Kerry.

4. I blame my self for being nieve enough to believe what these canidates said was going to happen and the party I used to belong to would field a canidate to follow it's core values.

5. We do have a two party system, but no the one you think. Now, we have the Republicrats and the Demicans. Come election time, the so called Republicans hoot and holler about how they love Jesus, want you to keep your guns, and keep government small. The so called Democrats hoot and holler about social programs, protecting the environment, and so on. But once elected, I find these folks to do only things that protect their perssonal interest. Clinton pardoned his friends and his friends made a fortune from China. Bush was suposedly going to make all this money from Iraq oil, but instead him and his friends are doing well on security and construction projects in Iraq.

I have always said that if you stripped away party affiliation and talking points, you'll find most people agree on the issues. I have found these items to be true:

1. People want to be free to make a living with out a redicilous tax burden and too much red tape.

2. People want to be able to raise their family in the manner which they see fit; not the government telling schools what to teach, things like how to put a condom on a bannana.

3. People want to know where theit tax dollars go and are tired of government waste like $1000.00 hammers and such.

4. People want to feel safe and be safe from criminals and attachs from other countries.

5. People can see illegal immigration is bankrupting our school system, hospitals, and labor. Everyone agrees something needs to be done NOW; but disagree how although most point the blame at the Mexican Government for running their country poorly.

6. People want to protect the enviroment and enjoy clean air and water but do not want to start riding bikles everywhere. People also do not want to all switch to hybrids. They enjoy their SUVs and all agree that technology is out there to make them more efficent. At the same time, most people agree that folks who live in dense urban areas really don't need to drive a huge gas guzzleing SUV on their commute, but feel options should be made more affordable to these people. Then if they can afford it and it's their choice, then it's their right.

7. Something needs to be done about retirement and the elderly. Young working families are struggling to keep the lights on and have no extra income to save for retirement. Also, care for the elderly is a scary subject that needs to be addressed. Great WWII veterns in their 80s and 90s are stuck in corners of convelesent hospitals or wander the streets with no care.

8. Our highway and road infrastructure needs to be dramatacally improved. Mass transit is cool, but Americans like to drive. Plus most of America is rural. Want to cut down on gas consuption and air poution, get us moving so we are not wasting time sitting in traffic!

9. Child molesters have no business recieving leinency. The worst thing you can ever do is mess with a kid. Severe penalties must be applied to these folks.

10. Our energy costs are redicilous!! Have you seen your PG&E bill? How about the price at the pump. In rural areas, a 250 gallon propane tank is in your yard to provide the gas needed to heat your home, hot water, and cook your food. At $2.89/ gallon that's $722.50!! That bill comes often when it's cold. So, after you fill up the car, pay the PG&E, pay for the gas, there's nothing left!

11. Minimum Wage. People can't live on this wage, but raising it will make eating out too expensive for working families. Most people earning this wage are kids.

Well, thats my soap box speach. I hope you found it interesting and I hope I don't recieve hate mail :)
Don't be lame. It's just fishing; you are not the new mesiah you know! Check your attitude at the door Mr. Spinners on da boat trailer.

I primarially vote Conservative Libertarian -- That ought to say how I am represented in this state. Image

My wife and I did vote for McClintock in his last two elections as Govenor and Lt. Govenor on the Republican side.
You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.
