Thank you. To be quite honest with you, as much as I love to fish for Smallmouths, I haven't caught many big ones. Only 3 over 5 lbs, with my PB being a 5.7.

Yes, I do think the techniques for fishing for the big Cali bass is area specific...... or to be more precise, if they are trout eaters, just throw a trout patterned swimbait at them. This is why I believe that fishing for big Cali bass is so much more clear cut...... and why I always try to tell guys that its really "so much easier, than they have led themselves to believe".

Now, if your fishing for Smallies, OR Largemouths that don't feed almost excluseively on hatchery trout, then its a whole different ballgame..... and I'm the first to admit it.

When you get that giant Smallie, I'd love to see a photo. Those things are just so beautiful.
