Powell 702 or 703 CB Glass

Post by griz01 »

I am considering buying one of these and was looking for some input from anyone who has purchased either one of them. 8)

I use the 702 for throwing jerkbaits mainly but will throw a lipless crankbait on it with braid around sparse grass.

a 703 would be a little firmer and better for use on the average crankbait, like a Bomber 6a, Norman Deep Little N, R2S Hi Dep 65.

For big plugs I would use the new 754 CB Glass or 765 CBR

I like the CB703 myself. They are both really good glass rods but the 703 is a better all around rod for what I use. They are super lite for a glass rod.

I really do like this rod a lot as well. :o I use the 703 and love it for throwing lipless cb's and medium to deep divers. I myself like the handle design to help in launching those baits. I have even been able to throw 1/4 oz speed traps and the Junior D with no problems too. Great all around rod for reaction baits.

Thanks for the input. I also spoke with Randy at Escalon Bait, that's close to me for pickup, he's going to order it for me. 8)

I'm switchin over to Powell and already have 3 rods, 2-baitcast and 1 spinning. I'm matching them up with Revo's. Thanks for the input anyway.

I wish I had all the powell cranking rods  They are really light, both the glass and the graphite. I would go with the 703 be cause I thinks it is more versitile. But the 702 would be a killer rippin rod
