Problems with two units on the same boat

Post by DG »

I have a 332c on the bow and a 26chd at the console. I normally have the console unit on while running and turn it off when i stop then turn on the 332c for fishing. The other day both units were working fine until later in the day. I stopped, turned the console unit off and the bow unit on. the 332c indicated 60' (I was in 15') and was blinking. The screen was not moving so I powered it down and back up again with the same results. I left it on and after about 2-3 minutes it began working fine. I went to make another move and turned the bow unit off, started the big motor and turned on the 26chd and it did the very same thing! in fact I then went back to the 332c, turned it on and both units were doing the same thing. I repowered both and no change so I left them on and both came back to normal in a couple minutes. I then shut down the bow unit and left the console unit on and started the big motor the 26c stayed "stuck at 60' for a couple minutes and then went back to normal while running to the ramp. I have both units "networked" and all the other (gps) functions were fine. The voltage was good, so I'm at a loss on how both units could develope the same problem at the sametime. :?: :?: :?:

Any Ideas?

How and why both units developed problems locking onto the bottom at the same time is peculiar. I don't really have an explanation since they both locked back onto the bottom after a short period of time. If a unit doesn't lock on the bottom and never does again, then we can try to identify the problem. The software in the unit may be compromised or the transducer may be bad. If the unit has an intermittent problem, until it becomes permanent it's hard to fix.

The NMEA backbone which carries GPS information and shares that information is a completely different network so any sonar problems you may be experiencing would be completely separate issues to diagnosis and fix.
