Product on Ultimate Match Fishing

Post by Gator »

Just watched round 1 of UMF on TiVo. There was a rear deck rod holder that crossed over the back of the boat and looked to be for the Co-Angler's rods. I checked the UMF website and could not find out any info. If anyone is aware of who makes this, please let me know. Owning an 18 foot boat this could have all kinds of cool applications.

FWIW...this is the pole carrier I use to carry my rods to/from my boat:

Works real well for me.

FYI, as a back decker in the tourney scene, I would not use this thing unless there was some kind of padding added to the areas were the handles and tips make contact with it. I saw one and it is a great idea except for the fact that there is nothing to keep from scaring and scratching your rods up while running down the lake. The old ugly stiks and fenwicks were tough rods that took alot of abuse, but the newer lighter rods of today will score and break at the points of contact, especially in rough water conditions. Great product just needs some tweeking.....My.02.....

You could just get some weather stripping foam tape and cut it to fit inside the holders.

Yes I did and I appreciate the info. I am going to look into it. I was thinking about providing my non-boaters with a better place for their rods.
