Proper line storage
I am getting ready to buy bulk line. Because I will be spending alot of money of spools I would like some info on proper ways to store it. I know I should not keep it in the boat, in the truck or places that has direct sunlight or places that heat up. So I am wondering what is the best temperature and does humidity matter in storage. Looking for so knowledge and ideas from anyone willing to help. Thank you.
Re: Proper line storage
I store my line inside a styrofoam ice chest which is then put into a closet. Years ago MAXIMA sold their bulk spools with a styrofoam box

Rico that is a great idea. Makes sense. Heat and cold stay out as well as moisture. Thank you

I keep mine in ziplock in the fridge. Used to keep them in the freezer but no room now, all filled with negatives; keeps them from changing colors. Think I heard it was a good idea from Mike Long years ago.

All I need to get into the money would be the four I usually get along with a 20# kicker.

Re: Proper line storage
The fridge is a little too cold, creates too much variance in the temperatures from fridge to air temp. The reason line breaks down is heat to cold temperatures or too much sun exposure.
The cooler is the right idea. Many of the top level anglers store their bulk spools in coolers in their trucks; be it in the cab or the back. The cooler helps regulate the temperature of their line slightly, instead of allowing for too much temperature variance.
If i was going to use a refrigerator sort of deal at home, I would use a wine refrigerator where I could regulate the temperature to about 60-degrees and keep it at a constant temperature at all times. Something like this or even less expensive would do.

But, for traveling, an old igloo, or one of those types of deals will work out great.
