Yak-a-Bass held its last event at Lake Tulloch, the jewel of the valley one may say. The fishing was tough, but a few anglers found the key to some nice limits of bass chasing bait off shore.

Once the lines were in and the fish all submitted, Pua Yang captures the win and big fish of the event, his two-day total was 198.00” and his big fish was 22.50”. Due to upcoming events, Yang left out several key details on how he caught his fish. He has another event coming in just a few weeks so he was vague giving out information.

“Since there is a 30 day off limits, I went out and fished memories where I had caught the fish before.” pronounced Yang, “It was pretty much junk fishing all day, I had to cull through several fish to catch a nice fish.”

“I would run and gun an area fishing very specific locations with crankbaits, Senkos, worms, chatter bait, craw lures and fall feeding lures that reach deeper fish. I caught fish from the bank to as deep as 40-feet of water.” defined Yang, “Shallow, the fish would pin fish against specific locations and then move deeper waiting for the next school of fish to swim by.

“It sucks that the TOC is at Tulloch because I have to leave out very specific keys on how I caught fish.” expressed Yang, “I did cover miles of water to get the limits I had caught.”

“On day two, I basically did the same thing as I did on day one, covering tons of water and searching for the schooling bass feeding on the bait fish.” he said.

Yang thanked his wife and kids for all their support with his fishing. Yang dedicated this tournament to his mom. With news of his grandfather's passing Saturday morning of the tournament, Yang knew it would shatter his mom. "I hope this little victory will at least put smile on her face during these coming hard days." Also, James Snyder for all his hard work making these tournaments so successful.

Joseph Silva was runner up with a two-day total of 192.50”. Silva caught all his fish on mid-strolling bait ball in 20 to 40- feet of water over 100-feet of water. Silva covered miles of water to find key bait ball that had bigger fish eating the bait.

“I fished memories for the first few hours and didn’t have any fish so I moved out to deeper water looking for bait.” vocalized Silva, “I had to go through several different bait balls to find fish working the bait, not every bait ball held fish.”

“I saw fish under docks but they were not eating so I searched deeper water and found the bigger fish.” declared Silva, “I changed my setting to 150’ forward so I could see farther from my boat to locate the bass.”

“I had found an area that held bigger bait fish that were around 3-4 inches long so I concentrated on that area.” stated Silva, “Not every bait ball held fish so I had to cover tons of water to find the 18-19" fish.”

“I was using a 1/8-ounce weighted jig head paired with a 5” Sakamato Shad bait to catch my fish both days.” announced Silva, “On day-two, I knew the best area to fish so I concentrated in that area. It was only two areas that held the bigger bait fish.”

“Day-two, it was the same as day one but I had to cover more water looking for the bait balls that held fish.” remarked Silva, “About every 10 to15th bait ball held fish.”

“It was a blast out there chasing the fish that were in the bait balls and getting them to bite.” he said.

Silva thanked James for hosting such great events for the anglers. “I really enjoyed fishing the Gamblers series this year, it’s a great format for the anglers.”

Keith Gouveia captured third with a two-day total of152.50” Gouveia fished history with a 3.3 Keitech paired with a 1/8ounce weighted jig head. He caught fish from 15-45 feet deep during both days of the event.

“I covered a ton of water fishing from the far North end to the far South end of the lake to catch my limits.” pronounced Gouveia, “I threw topwater, jig and several different lures but never got bite until I changed up to a drop shot.” articulate Gouveia, “I was using a Berkey Flat worm during the event that accounted for all my fish both days.”

“I had to swim the Keitech slowly over ball of bait to get my bites.” communicated Gouveia, “Once I figured out the bite, I caught several fish during the event.”

“I focused on very specific structure on the main lake.” expressed Gouveia, “Once I was in a creek channel, the area too was very specific where the fish were holding and pushing bait.”

“I found that the bite was tough and saw fish busting bait, I stuck to the ball head keitech for both days.” he said, “Also, the drop shot accounted for many of my limit.”

Gouveia thanked his wife and family for all their support with my fishing. Thanks to Yak-a-Bass for hosting such great events and all the anglers for coming out to these events and making the Gamblers series work.
