Ranger Trailer Restoration

Post by CATCHEMCARO »

I have a 2001 duel axle Ranger trailer. Ive have the brake system completely gone through and is now like new. Now I wanta make my dull oxidized fender shiny again and I need the carpet on the bunkers redone. Also is there a way to silence the squeaky suspicion? So any good shop or do it your self help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You can band aid it or fix it correctly. Inspect the bolts, bushings and leaf springs! They wear out and become squeaky, noisy and then dangerous when one of your leaf springs snaps doing 70 mph!!! Also have the brackets inspected while your at it. For a very temporary band aid fix. Spray some silicone lube on everything!! PS! Take it to Chucks Brake and Wheel in Santa Rosa!! You can thank me later!!! :D :D :D

If you are going to go through the trouble and expense of the cosmetic stuff you mentioned and have already done the brakes, it sounds like you want to keep this trailer. If you do then I would inspect the axles first, if they are good then I would replace the bushings, leaf springs, shackle bolts and other suspension parts. This will quiet down the trailer a lot because your bushings are worn away. Finally I would then replace the wheel bearings if your hubs are in decent condition if that hasn't been done in a long time. Very doable yourself if you have an impact wrench and are mechanically inclined.
