Redbud comes to Brentwood

Post by adman »

Fishing the Yamamoto this past weekend we stayed at the Holiday Inn in Brentwood, something I have done for years (when it was the only place to stay in BW) Park the boat under the big lights plug in the charger, go to bed. Never had a problem. Until this weekend when my buddy lost 90% of his tackle, rods, boxes and boxes of baits, to some brazen thieves. The odd thing was they left his electronics, (maybe they've heard about Lowrance Customer Service :) ) yet took the time to pull all his rods out of the lockers and all those boxes out of lockers...not an easy OR quick thing to do. This happened between 9PM and 3AM. Unbelievable.

Nothing is safe anywhere anymore I guess.

Just curious. Did he have a Loc-R-Bar or anything else to deter the thieves?

I use a Loc-R-Bar and while I know that it can be defeated, I'm hoping it at least steers the theives to easier pickings...

Back in the 90's it was common to have this happen when staying at Redbud at clear lake, sometimes even in the middle of the day with people around. That is what he is referring too. When I have to leave my boat parked outside overnight at a motel or tied to the dock if I am staying on the water someplace I always bring my rods and tackle into my room, never leave them in the boat. It's a hassle but you sleep better knowing your stuff is with you not getting ripped off by some low life.
