Three of my baits have broken while hooked up on fish, all three came back to me with blades but no hook and skirt.
Has anyone else had problems lately with the wire breaking?

No, mine are still in one piece.
That's what happens when you specialize in rats.

I had to come back...I know...

Yup,did you catch alot of fish before the break?I don't swing fish on blades anymore cause of the extra stress on the wire. That wire can only be straightened and reset in place so many times before it becomes week and breaks on a fish.I hate throwing away blades but theres a time IF you think its weak its time to toss it in the garbage. If I'm on little fish I take a chance and still use not caring if it breaks .You might try some type of titanium,it might work for you.I tried it but I lost confidence so I went back to rod strainer.I'm just a very serious fun fisher so the pros may have great input. Are you bringing the fish in green and frisky? Maybe tire them out a bit .I rarely break them now.

It's the curse of success....
Light wire spinnerbaits get lots of bites due to the good action. But, they are less durable than heavier wire spinnerbaits. It's kind of a trade-off....more bites vs durability. I'd suggest you use your "old" spinnerbaits for prefishing and keep a half dozen in the boat for tournaments. Then, change them out after every three small fish or one larger fish. If you have to straighten the wire...toss it into the "prefish-only" box.
Good luck.

Re: Size matters!
Three fish, three broken blades.
The first one I'm not sure how many fish I had caught on it but the other two were right out of the package.
All three spinner baits were purchased at the same time and the same tackle shop.
I've had blades break before but never this many in an hours time.
It could be a freak coincidence or it could be just a bad batch.
