Salmon fisherman with dogs

Hey guys , just a heads up . If you go salmon fishing don't be tempted in giving your dog a tasty skin treat. It almost cost my Labs life. Google Salmon Poisoning in dogs and read all about it. Its a parasite that releases enzymes that are toxic to dogs. My Lab has been hospitalized for three days now being treated for what we thought was Pancreatitis. Until my wife accused me of making her ( the dog ) sick with the salmon skin. To shut her up I Googled Salmon and dogs. The first thing that popped up was Salmon Poisoning. I immediately called the vet and he agreed. He also said if we were in Vancuver or Washington that would have been the first thing asked, here in So. cal who would have thought. So ya , once again she ( the wife ) was right and I have a 2000.00 plus dollar vet bill. The salmon infected are primarily in the Pacific north west waters. If its cooked its fine and does not effect humans.
