Saturday Action

Post by nelsonlui »

Just wanted to know how everyone did. I fished disco and had a hard time. Only three fish on traps. No topwater fish. Combination of the full moon, wind, and cold water temp shut the top water bite off completely for me. Saw other boaters drift minnows with medium success.

I registered between 45-48.5 water temp. Is this still considered productive temperature for top water?

Wasted almost all of the outgoing tide on Disco this morning. Bays that had produced earlier in the week....yielded nothing, zero, zip. We got one LMB on a rattletrap.

We ran north braving the whitecaps to hit a spot. Whitecaps were rolling thru there too. Luckily, we were able to hug a bank & hide from most of the wind. Ha, ha we were able to do some monster (downwind) casts. Got a pair of 24" Stripers there to save the day. Took a lot of cast to get 'em! After we each got a fish, we bailed out of there. Whew, that was close...I almost got skunked.

Froze my butt off on the San Juaquin and got blown out of Franks. Decided to fish Sycamore. But no stripers there. Only one two pound LM for the day.
