Seaguar Flippin' Line

Post by ttb31183 »

The new Flippin' line from Seaguar has been awesome in the time I have used it. I have been asked a few times today what makes it different and what other Seaguar line would I compare it to. Here is an overview of my thoughts on it based on my own personal experience.

It comes in heavy lb tests only since it is made for flippin' and pitching heavy cover and is available in both braid and fluorocarbon. 20, 25 and 30 for fluoro and 50 and 65lb for braid...perfect for the thick stuff. It also only comes in 100 yard spools, which is plenty for two reels with backing and all you need for these close up techniques.

I found the fluorocarbon to be very manageable, even at the 30lb size, which is typically hard to spool as a mainline on a normal sized reel. Seaguar is always on the thin side compared to other brands so this helps its diameter. I also found it to be very abrasion resistant with less stretch than some of the other fluoros. Seaguar says it has best in class knot strength and I would agree, however I have not broken it yet. I would say it is most like AbrazX than any of the other Seaguar lines, but it is still different and available in the 30lb size.

With the braid, the first thing you will notice is it is all black. I received a sample of it at ICAST when it was just a spool marked "50lb" as seen below. The black color has lasted and has not faded as much as most braids do after a few months of use. Like the fluoro, it is also very thin for its size. It is an 8 strand braid, so it is woven tighter and as a result is also more sensitive and abrasion resistant.
