Braided fishing line to fluoro leader...???
To SAVE as MUCH MONEY as I can on fishing line... I use MONO BACKING (half spool) to BRAIDED LINE (to the brim) to FLUORO/MONO LEADER (6-10') for pretty much ALL my reels/techniques. EXCEPT...when fishing a FROG in heavy cover...than I will go to STRAIGHT BRAID. But 98% of the time...I am using the ...

Re: Help me SAVE MONEY...???
Most importantly...The NUMBER 1 way I have found to save money: 1. Stick to one brand of hard baits, plastics or jigs for each and every technique you want to fish or have confidence in. You don't have to buy 4-5 different brand names of worms, crank baits, craws, jigs, top waters etc. I used to thi...

Re: Help me SAVE MONEY...???
Thanks for the input guys. Oldschool - The wheels have been turning and I too have come to the conclusion that to be successful and cover 90% of bass fishing...ALL you really need is a medium, medium heavy and heavy. I have 2 of them already. I will probably get another medium heavy rod, one medium ...

Help me SAVE MONEY...???
Do you guys fish ALL the techniques or stick to just a few that you either like, have confidence in or have the money for? I believe I like bass fishing as much as any die hard bass fisherman but i just don't think any angler has the funds for every tackle/technique there is. And I think I speak the...

Best frog angler...???
Who is the best frog angler in your opinion?
I hear names like dean rojas, bobby barrack and ish monroe most. I want to look into some videos or articles of the best frog angler for reference as i have never fished a frog before and want to try them out come summer time.
Thanks.

Techniques and color changes...???
Some times I go for a long period (2-3 hours) with not a single bite. How do I know if its: 1) Wrong technique. Say...I am fishing a jig but I should really be fishing a topwater. 2) If I am using the right technique for the given situation/conditions...maybe change the color of the bait? 3) Last bu...

Re: Casting distance & finesse/light lures theory...???
8 LB line for jigs and 3-4 LB BASS.....Man....that sounds SCARY!!! LOL ;) Thats just asking for a line break off right at the initial hookset. Haha...I like to WACK EM' as hard & fast as I can. The only time i do a soft hookset is with a dropshot, crank baits and jerkbaits. Other than that...I a...

Re: Casting distance & finesse/light lures theory...???
Thanks for the input guys. I figured they had supertuned baitcasters. Also...I have noticed that when I have a bait that is more streamlined or smaller in profile regardless of weight (senko)...it will have less wind drag and I get a little more distance compared to a bulky bait. I will probably sup...

Daiwa Zillion handle upgrade...??
I LOVE my daiwa zillion...But I would love it even more if it weren't for the stock handle. I don't like them much as the knobs are not supported with a bearing and therefore do not spin freely. I believe the zillion would be even more smoother if it had a handle with bearings. I am looking to upgra...

Casting distance & finesse/light lures theory...???
The other day I went out fishing at a local urban pond that I frequent a lot. There is a water inlet/fountain/rock pile that is right smack in the middle of this pond. This is the only structure/feature on this pond. My average casts with 1/4 oz jig/beaver trailer and 12 lb test on a baitcaster...we...

Thanks for all the great suggestions, advice, comments and tips guys. I really appreciate it. On a side note...My current setups for jigs and T-rigs right now is: 1. Irod Genesis II 744c, Daiwa Zillion 7.1, Carbontex drag upgrade 2. Irod Genesis II 754c, Daiwa Zillion 7.1, Carbontex drag upgrade I f...

New jig and Texas rig/worm rod…???
I fish a jig and texas rig 60% of the time and I have lost many fish to these 2 techniques. I believe I lose a lot of these fish due to my rods being too slow and therefore not getting to the meat/backbone quick enough for the hookset. It could be a myriad of other things too…but…I chose rod action ...

Rod for Wakebaits...???
I am having a difficult time choosing a rod for wakebaits. I LOVE topwater but out of all the topwater techniques...I still haven't gotten one on a wakebait and am determined to fish wakebaits more this year in hopes of landing one. I am of the kind or theory that wakebaits are kind of like swim bai...

Jig fishing...???
Jigs have heavy cover written all over them but they are not cheap and I hate losing them. How many jigs should I lose in a typical day/outing to justify that I am using jigs correctly? I am a "die hard" jig nut and its my #1 confidence lure. I lose about 1-2 on a good day. 3-4 on a bad da...
