Re: Questions regarding Aluminum bass boats...

Honestly the major downside in an aluminum boat for me is how much you get pushed around when facing windy conditions or current. It can get pretty frustrating and makes me want to go fiberglass. Good luck in your search! Check facebook groups for used boat sales. I've seen amazing deals out there!...

Re: Ca delta chatterbaits question?

I believe the brand of chatterbait is less important than how you fish it. Like most reaction baits you get way more bites, especially big bites, if you deflect the bait off cover. Let that chatterbait contact the weeds even to the point of getting stuck in the weeds as much as possible. Often the g...

There is no question about it, tournament weights on average in the Delta are down in recent years. Its still a great fishery, but whats going to happen over the next several years is the real question. Will it cycle upwards or will the fishery decline.

My vote is for the Delta! I was out today and had 23lbs on senkos and vibrating jigs. Mokelumne was very dirty but once you get to the the San Joaquin it was fine. I fished Old river outside Franks, near Mandeville and near Holland Tract. At times the water too clear for my liking. Good Luck.

If you really prefer to fish out of a small boat instead of a kayak, you might want to take a look at a portabote. Re: Buying my first bass boat... assistance appreciated

If you are fishing Clear Lake and the Delta frequently, I would be looking at a 20 foot or larger bassboat, not 18. It is windy so much of the time that these places fish like you are on big water. Also, for the Delta especially, I highly recommend twin Talons or Powerpoles.

If you go with the KVD, I recommend going with the 2X short shank trebles which allow you to upsize the hook by about one size. Gamakatsu makes a short shank that they call the EWG Treble Short Shank 2X Magic Eye, which also allows you to upsize the hooks but still minimizes the chance they get tang...

You will not regret getting the 36 volt system. I bought a used boat that came with a 45" MinnKota 101lb 36volt motor, love the power but on rough days the prop bounces out of the water in the swell and you lose some control. I would suggest the 52" shaft.

Have you checked any of the motor manufacturer websites? They put out spec sheets that show how their motors perform with different boats through the rpm spectrum. You should be able to find some Ranger/Merc stats for something close to your set up.
