Sherman Island Question

Post by nelsonlui »

Been hearing good things about Sherman and am thinking of goin out there this weekend on Saturday afternoon. Never fished it. Looks like it will be the high outgoing. Looking at the maps, the south east are deeper channels and the west is the shallow flats. Can someone give me some tips on what side I shoudl concentrate on? I'm not asking for spots, just eliminate unproductve water for the recreational fisherman.

One last thing, are there any obstructions that could potentially cause some major problems like sunken boats out in the middle of no where?

Thanks guys!

There are pilings in the water (visible at low tide) as you exit the ramp area into the lake. Be very careful. Maybe follow someone else out and hope its not their first time too. :?

Your too much Mike.
Pitch into the tules and drag. Senkos, tubes, jigs, brushhogs, blades, it all works. You gotta figure out where and when, but tide changes are good.
Fishing should be fun.

Be careful in there when tide is low. You might think the water is deep when your only 1' deep. Not a safe place for a first timer.

Jigs,
Its in the north end of Sherman. Be careful for several reasons. There are some low lifes that loiter around there and the ramp floods pretty well at high tide. It is a nice ramp and the cove around it holds nice fish especially right about this time of year.
I would rather jog home from my own Vasectomy than spend Saturday at the mall.

So I don't need to worry as much if I enter in from the main river on the south side.. ie go in from big break for the obstructions? Thanks

Lauritzen Yacht Harbor, E-3, 925-757-1916, is located on the San Joaquin River in Antioch, just upstream of the bridge. FD GD BL BB DBS MR HPO.

That's where we usually go out of.
