Shimano vs Quantum?

Post by bryanw80 »

I am in the market for a new swimbait reel. Any opinions on the Shimano Curado 300DSV vs the Quantum Cabo PT CBC30PTS? Thanks

Anyone? I know many people have opinions on Curado and some use the Cabo PT also? Thanks

I havent used the Quantum, but the Cu300 is an AWSOME swimbait reel! I feel you get so much mroe controll with it on your casts vs a round reel. With enough pactice and the right kind of cast you can make the splash down from a big KER-PLUNK to no more then just a normal size splash then say a DD22 sometimes even slient like when your flippin! I love this Reel and when I get the money I will be buying another one for either the 807 or the 795ML for when I get into punkers and BIG walking baits!

The Quantum Cabo PT is a low profile reel also. Thanks

I use the Cabo PT for all of my swimbaits, and I love it. I know of a few other people who also use the Cabo, and others who use the Curado.

I think it is just personal preferance, and for some it's the name brand (Shimano).

Also, the Curado only holds 190 yards of 14lb test while the Cabo 30 (the large one) holds 270 yards of 14lb test. Just something to think about.

In the end, it's all in what works best for you, not me or someone else.

I had mechanical problems with a Cabo I bought to throw swimbaits with. Returned it and bought a Shimano. I'm sure there are plenty of people who swear by Quantum, but I've had problems with at least five of their casting reels I have owned. It's a no brainer for me...Shimano.
