Shimano Reel Repair.

Post by nelsonlui »

Hi,

Anyone know where I can get some directions on how to change the drag washers, bearings, and gears in some Curados. I think it is time since they are not working good. If I bring them in, the guy charges about 60-70 bucks. That's territory for a new reel. Thanks.

LakeForkTackleRepair.com

Give them a call - I believe it would be alot cheaper.

Or look up Tony Mello in the Brentwood area. He has been trained by LFTR and can take care of ya!!

You can send them to Shimano in Irvine, they charge $20 + parts. Sometimes they take from 4-6 weeks tho, I would call them first.

You can drop them off at The Hook Line & Sinker in Oakley.
JD repairs Shimano and Abu and we have another person that repairs Daiwa, Penn, and other reels.
JD charges $10.00 plus parts. He Cleans them with a ultra clean machine and oils them. His turn around is very quick and stocks most parts.

I just got my Calais back from shimano. They replaced all the gears and the broken thumb bar for about 40 bucks. I dropped it off at ODPS in Rohnert Park and they took care of the whole thing. I took 5 or 6 weeks.

For you local guys around the Delta, he's fast, reliable and more than fairly priced! JD's worked on my ABU's since before Delta Peat got submerged! And if'n fer some reason he cain't fix it, off to the factory it goes!

The folks at LakeForkTackle are outstanding to, possibly the best in the country!

And by all means, Check in and visit with Dan on the shimano Forum, cain't git no more direct to Shimano than Dan!

Here's a link to our online maintenance guides.

It is very simple to replace the drag washer in your Curado. 5-10 minute job with simple hand tools.

Here is another link on calfishing.com (sorry if that isn't cool to do but it is to help this guy out)
