smallies at union valley?
So im headed to union valley this weekend to beat the heat and would love to catch some smallies but last time only caught one little dink. Im looking for a little advice on where and what would be my best shot at catching some fish. Ive only fished for bass there once many times for trout and i have no idea what works best. Im not worried about the big boys but as long as i can put atleast a limit in the boat im happy. Please help!!

This is second hand knowledge, but there it goes....
Yes there is a decnt population of smallies in UV, and definitely more on the quantity and opposed to quality side of things.
shakey, dropshot, darthead would be staples, water should still be pretty cool up there, so I don't imagine you would have to venture any deeper than 20' to find fish.
Just from an educated guess, I would think that cranking would do really well, since the lake is pretty much rock and nothing else. Also might consider the smallie standard chartreuse skirt/blades spinnerbait.
Trout swimbaits for bigger ones....?

Yes, there are plenty of smallies there. When you launch, turn right and go straight across to the other side. Look up on the hill and you'll see a barn, look to the left and there will be a bay full of rocks and smallies. Use 4-6inch worms on darter heads or shakey heads and hold on, not huge but fun. Let us know how you do.

Ya not a lot of big fish. last time I was up there loaded on them with a dropshot. Nothing over a pound but it was fun.
