Some more props need to be handed out......................

Post by Pete Marino »

for strong finishes at Havasu.......

4th place- Guy Williams and Jason Chang..aka "Hippie"

15th place- Gerry Mahieu and Bob Lindgren

17th place- Al Miqueleiz and Rex McConnell

Good job boys..........

Also I have a quick funny story and an observation....

Saturday morning I pulled my fishing glasses out of the glove compartment of my boat and I somehow broke the frame so I had to go find one of my boys..either Guy and Jason Gerry and Bob or Al and Rex to borrow some super glue to fix my shades.
Immediately Gerry gave me a pair of expensive new shades to wear for the day but I also wanted to quick fix mine because I didnt want to take the chance of ruining Gerrs.
Al gave me some super glue and told me to "gently" squeeze the glue tube while he held the glasses. Well.....I of coarse squeezed hard and the super glue came out ALL OVER ALS hands   It was actually pretty funny if your name wasnt Al...  Anyways....after he bitched and moaned about me pouring glue all over him he told me that the glue was surely dry becasue the glue on his hands was hard as a rock..I said..."No"..I'll wait to put them on because it was still too dark.
I put them on the console of my boat until the last second before I blasted off. When they called my number I put them on and took off.
When I got to my 1st spot I needed to wipe a bug off my lenses so I tried to take the glasses off..and.....yep wouldnt you know.....the DAMN glasses were glued to my eye brow.......Karma paid me back for pouring the glue all over Als hand....UNFREAKING BELEIVABLE!!!
This was funny for everyone not named Pete Marino because I had to tear them off and it hurt like hell.  AND I had an area of hard glue on what was left of my now disfigured brow for the rest of the day.

Next the observation.........
On Thursday night My partner and I went to Al and Rex's house and played poker with them and Gerry and Bob till almost 1 in the morning.....
My observation is this.....

Rex........ is the tighest player I've ever played against. In fact he mentioned many times that "he's tighter than a ducks butt". I'm not sure how he knows how tight a ducks butt is but I think it had something to do with a drunken night between him and Al and a lonely defensless Mallard.
AL...........Is the biggest bluffer on the planet. The problem is though that he has the worst poker face and cant control his emotions when he has a good hand so he usually screams..."I've got a good hand" when he really does have something. The rest of the time ...he bluffs. :?
Bob......is the king of the 2nd best hand...........if he won chips for the 2nd best hand...he would have walked away a winner for sure.

Then theres Mr. "PLAY EVERY HAND" Mahieu........there are no two cards Gerry wont play to the hilt. Every possible two cards looks like a winner to him and he often bet big with far less then the best hand....it might have been the beer talking for him....or maybe he really thinks a 3-5 off suit is a monster hand....probably a little of both..
It was a great night of poker though with some pops, friends, fishing stories and poker...a great way to take the stress of the tournament off for an evening. It was a good time guys........We'll have to do it again soon.
Congrats again on your finishes.....

Get 'em at Tri-States, Pete! Uh, I mean the fish, not the poker players. That's funny about the glasses, that stuff is dangerous!
It might be lonely at the Top, but it's a bitch, at the Bottom !

Pete,
I haven’t had a chance to meet you, but I must say
you and your buddies were cracking me up at the
Pre tournament meeting in Havasu.

Just last week...

...I was gluing a jig trailer onto a living rubber jig with Crazy Glue. I didn't notice that I got a small drop of Crazy Glue on my finger - until I let go of the trailer. I had three or four strands of living rubber stuck to my right index finger. I just pulled it off, but the ends of the rubber were still stuck to my finger. It kind of looked like a hairy wart and, of course, was right in the center of my finger tip. It took several hours to finally peel it off. I have several other funny Crazy Glue stories, but I can’t think of them right now.

I can visualize the hair still stuck to Pete's fishing glasses. Funny stuff, indeed.

Good Times Pete...

Yea, I had a great 4 days and nights in Havasu... fishing was great and it was nice getting those last lake swims in before the winter sets in an we will be dreaming of the warm weather again...

There is nothing like seeing the water below your topwater bait turn brown from a wolfpack of smallmouth battling each other to see who can eat the bait first... killer... that lake is really getting better and better. Topwater all day, awesome...

Poker night was a blast, except for that "duck butt" Rex taking all the money. Dealer Al was his hilarious self. And "I'll bet anything" Gerry was a sight to behold...

Stay away from the superglue and don't worry - you will get them next time...

Almost forgot about the Yellowtail Tacos...

Post by DB »

Thanks Keith B. for the awesome yellowtail tacos and fixins that you made for us... I know it was hard to concentrate on your cooking and look at the big screen at the same time - I'm impressed you didn't burn yourself !!

Can't wait for next year and we can do it all again...

Most of us fish.........

Post by Pete Marino »

a variety of lakes but Perris and DVL would be our main lakes. That was Al and Rex I was talking to when we mentioned the "Scooby Doo" van.....we were referring to Pat Kinery who used to own a van that looked like that rig.

Come up and introduce yourself next time. We all try to have a good time on and off the water...thats what it is all about.

I'm sitting here sending DB another limit shot of Lobsters from tonight and I read your glue event....holy crap!, I totally envisioned that and accidentally woke my older son up from my laughing!....way too funny! You know, I've heard that scared $ is lost $....well, having no fear on any hand worked for a bit until that "tighter than a Duckies Butt" guy Rex got hungry for "chips". So much fun this last weekend, and way way worth $15 to learn how to play Texas Hold'em. Anybody up for a Lobster dive?, it IS that time of year again!
