Sure... got a box full of them in many different sizes and colors. Wouldn't recommend something that I don't use, as I'm not sponsored by anyone but myself.
Here's my second biggest fish at the time... 7.08# at Lake Casitas on 12/26/06:

can you describe what you use ..rod/reel/line?
and how is fishing one of these jig diffrent than lets say a spoon?
am I right, that there is a diving plane on some of them?
what about the three hooks...do you modify? colors?

Re: Spoon size and type.McClure,Melones,Pedro
I use a shorter rod with a fast tip, baitcaster reel, usually with either 8# or 10# flourocarbon... lighter line works better as you get better action.
It really isn't different than a spoon, although you probably work the ice jig a bit less than you would a standard spoon.
They do have fins, so they give off a very erratic movement which seems to really trigger the bass when you've got the 'spagetti strands' under the boat.
I use the stock hooks - there are integrated hooks on the front and back, and a decent treble on the hanger. If you've ever worked with them much, you'll curse how sharp those little guys are!
The silver with black back is my favorite, then the white neon glow (glows in the dark) is second. I have also caught fish on the silver and blue, and have a lot of the smaller models in the various shad patterns... I used one at Shasta at the Fed event when we found bass crashing a school of bait and we caught 8 fish in the last 10 minutes off that school - unfortunately they weren't the 'deluxe' models, but fun none the less.
Cast 'em out and work them back to the boat with little snaps, drop them vertical over a school and jig with compact motions - they will catch fish.
Hope this helps!

Hey Roger some things are meant to stay on the other side of the Tejon pass.... talking about those freakish ice jigs is one of them.tunaman wrote:I use a shorter rod with a fast tip, baitcaster reel, usually with either 8# or 10# flourocarbon... lighter line works better as you get better action.

3 spoons not mentioned are; Luhr-Jensen Crippled Herring, Mr. Champ and Megabait live jig spoons. 3/4 oz size with white chicken feathered chrome or red Owner #2 trebles. Colors; chrome, blk shad, chartruese shad.
Loomis salt water series PR845C rod is a good choice for spoons; med/hvy, mod/fast action.

One other 'sekret' bait not to forget, since I haven't seen Gary around here for a while, are the McSpins... they work great for the schooling fish both horizontal and vertical.

%^$#!@ Son of #$%( thats it DTM

McSpins \tail spins are killer for the suspended fish, now I guess you are going to start giving the inside scoop for how to fish the scroungers....

You know I am funnin with you, that is what this site is for. I find it interesting how some baits\techniques for Cali are regionalized and for some mysterious reason dont make it on the the other side of the hilll...at least openly
