I was just curious if any of you have ever purchased jig tying materials from stamina quality components. I just recieved an order of jig rubber and it wreaks of petroleum. If this is standard what should I do, Soak it? In what, Bang?! Water? Thoughts or suggestions are appreciated as always.
Thank You,
Tim
Stamina jig skirts
Re: Stamina jig skirts
Some silicone skirting has a diesel smell to it. The Barbed Wire patterns from Living Rubber company are the ones I have noticed this with. There are probably only a couple producers of silicone skirting so they are probably from the same source. I have just aired mine out for a while before tying it up on the jigs. Seems to still catch fish fine.

Some of the chemicals used in the coloring process (especially the barbed wire, fish scale and layered colors) leave a petro smell. I believe it is Toulene (sp?). Leave them out and the smell will reduce over time.
