Heads up, boaters! Starting next Monday, Aug. 18, all motorized boats launching at Bullards Bar Reservoir must be screened for invasive golden mussels prior to launching.
Screenings are free and will take place daily from 6 a.m. to dusk on a first come, first served basis at the Cottage Creek and Dark Day boat launches. Clean, drain and dry your boat before you arrive to help keep things moving smoothly.
During the initial phase of this pilot program, vessels will not be tagged, sealed or banded.
We know this is a big change and may be inconvenient for some, but until we know whether golden mussels can survive in our reservoir, screenings are a necessary precaution. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as we work through this together.
