Straightening grub tails

Post by buddy brown »

Picked up some yammi grubs today packed in like sardines. All the tails are kinked on every one of them. Any way to straighten them out.

You can lay tem out flat on a board and use a hair dryer to heat them up till they lay flat. This will keep the salt intact. You can boil some water and dip the tails till the straighten out but the salt will be gone.

Boil some water in a small pot. Dip the grub tail in the boiling water for a few. It will soften the plastic enough to take the kink out. Then lay it flat until it cools and you should be in business.
You can do the same treatment on any plastic baits that you might want to either strighten out, or on some of those old worms that are hard as a rock, this will soften the plastic and make them fishable again .

Get you one of these! Simply place grub on seat and she'll do the rest. Your tails will not only be straight but they'll be ultra thin and come with a built in Berkley Gulp scent.

I like the idea and have no doubt that the grub tails would be squared away but I think the fish might not like the scent

Thanks Ray.. :P You are gentleman and a scholar. I've got my scuba gear ready and I intend to treat this situation like a trigonometry equation... Though the problem is big and there are many ways to approach it, it is often best to dive right In to get to the core
