Stren Clear Lake Tournament - Just an Observation
Stren Clear Lake Tournament - Just an Observation
When a guy is having a good tournament, it is very easy for him to walk around and chat with his friends and colleagues. But when a guy is having a bad tournament and still does this, it is a true sign of class and the very definition of good sportsmanship.
In no uncertain terms (and he will be the first to admit it) my friend Sieg Taylor had a horrible tournament this past week. In spite of this, he remained on the docks at KVC taking with and congratulating his many, many friends. In my 25 plus years of tournament fishing, I can recall very few people who had the intestinal fortitude to suck it up and move on, as did my friend Sieg Taylor. You are one in a million Bud, and I, for one, think the world of you.
God Bless You my friend. We'll Get 'em Good at Shasta!

It's all about priorities and attitude.
Sieg excels in both areas. Good of you to point it out.

Re: Stren Clear Lake Tournament - Just an Observation
He was there for the entire weigh-in on day 4, with his wife and family. His wife & daughter were even selling girl scout cookies in front of Wal-Mart. I didn't make the cut, but my roommate finished in 4th on the Am side. Great time - but man was it cold.
Re: Stren Clear Lake Tournament - Just an Observation
DITTO ON SIEG.. i drew him a couple years ago in a pro/am and when he told me he was from fresno i told him our club was having a tourney at pine flat that july.. his comment was " OH MAN I'M SO SORRY " i asked him if i could call him just prior to our tourney and pick his brain.. he said no .. but you can come down and i'll take you out . he invited me to his home and then took me fishing at pine flat and you know what he was right "BOY WAS I SORRY" tough bite, but not too many guys would invite you to their home and take you fishing after only knowing you a few hours on the water .. SEIG is a true gentleman.... bob
Re: It's all about priorities and attitude.

I have never met you Ron C (I would like to) but very well said. I just returned from a life changing business conference with my company and I read this. I must say that I would not have even been at the conference if it was not for meeting Sieg Taylor several years ago. Sieg is my mentor and a true friend. He told me years back, "Mick, if you want to soar with eagles, you can't hang around with turkey's". I took that to heart and now have a life filled with abundance in all areas. The best part is, he is still helping people and will as long as he is on this planet. Tori and Heather, listen to Sieg, hang on to his shirt tail and I promise you will go places. They don't come any better. I love Sieg and his family. Thank you man.

I don't know if some of you guys realize how inspirational some of these posts are. I don't know the history around here and I don't know Sieg except from this screen.
I just want to say thanks and hope I can can keep 1/2 the dignity as some of you.
Good luck and God bless!

HAR!!!
Nope, I would not even play that trick at a Stren. My mouth about hit the floor when I heard what a tough tournament Sieg was having. That's the way this sport goes, when you have those days when everything goes right always remember there will be those days when everything will go wrong. No matter how tough a day though Sieg's glass is always more than half full.
Sieg will be back sticking them soon, you can count on that.

Not only is Sieg a heck of a fisherman and a fierce competitor, he is even more of a family man. Having spent time with his family, his success over can be attributed to the devotion he has for Deedrian and his children. He has thier full support in all he does. He is a leader among us fishermen as well as he is in his family just by his actions. Sieg is a winner in my book. As Dewayne says, he will put this one behind him and will be in the hunt in the next one.
BTW Sieg, speaking of banana's, I saw Jenny D. on Saturday and she is still fuming over the banana in Dewayne's boat at the rally. She has a big desire to get even!!! har har

Re: Stren Clear Lake Tournament - Just an Observation
I watched sieg take the time to get his co angler some fish and position the boat for the co angler to have the best fishing angle. Not only was he a gentleman and great competitor at the weigh in I got to witness first hand the mental toughness it takes to finish out the day. Everything said here was 100% true and accurate. sometimes Sieg there are better things going on than where a guy finished in the standings and you sure showed us all what they are. i am truely humbled and happy to know you. RR
If I don't meet you no more in this world Then I'll see you in the next one. Don't be late... Don't be late... Stevie Ray/Hendrix

All this nicety-nice stuff.. Where is the Westernbass.com that I know and love?
As for Sieg... Damn you killed me on my FantasyBassTour.com picks... its all good though I can't win any prizes anyway and a couple of my other picks had bad events too!
Anyone see Sieg's truck wrap? Looks awesome!
I have to say I have seen the north in only a few events and the angler's up here are sure great about helping each other out before, after and during an event.
As for Jimmy... you are on a terror, keep it up and Thank God you can't fish the AC Delta event in 2 weeks... Not that it gets any easier but, instead of 101st... I might get 100th! Can the rain PLEASE stop by then!!!

Thanks for the kind words.
It's not to often that I find myself speechless.
With friends like you, it's easy to move this sport we love in a positive direction.

Re: You mean the Bananna King?
Hi Jimmy,
I wanted to publicly congratulate you on a job well done @
Clear Lake, that's a nice win for you.
I remember a couple of years ago up at Lake Oroville at the Anglers Choice Championship dinner after you won Angler of the year. In your speech I recall that you had said that what was important to you was to first off do it right, and to be thought of as a consistent well thought of professional angler. Well in my view and for what its worth, you have accomplished just that with your persistence, hard work ethic and your professionalism, nice job.
