Survey: 4 most common fishing knots?

Post by BigBossMan »

This is for my son’s science project at school and he needs as many responses as he can get for the survey portion of the project.

List the four most common fishing knots used for copolymer/monofilament fishing line?

Thanks for the help...

I only know 4 knots so here goes:

Palomar (Used almost exclusively now except when I tie braid)
Double Cinch (or it might be clinch)
San Diego (Rarely used, but I know its a pretty good knot)
Surgeon's Knot (Check I tie 2 lines together)

I use:

1. Palomar knot
2. Improved cinch knot
3. Uni-to-uni (for joining two lines)

Another popular knot (that I don't use) is the Trilene knot

are you asking what we think are the 4 most common knots, or the 4 common knots that we use?

I only use 3:

palomar
tony pena
trilene

I also only mainly use only 3:

Improved Clinch (mono
Berkeley Braid knot (7 turns for braid 4 turns for floro)
Tony Pena (joining two lines together)

The only other knot I use is a polomar when I tie on a drop shot hook.

I use these

1: Quick Knot(half a San Diego), only name I know it by for flouro
2: San Diego for braid
3: Alberto-I was using a uni/uni than a Stren knot for my braid to mono. This knot is way better.
4:Snell for Senko's on octopus hooks and punching.
I had to come back...I know...

Good point,
I use the Snell alot!, just didn't think about it! Considering I've used it for every sweetbeaver I've fished in the past 3 years.....
