Swin Bait Question
Swin Bait Question
This weekend at Clear Lake I was throwing a 4" swin bait into the tulles. 3 time I hook big fish one probably 10+. All the big fish (5+) grabbed the swim bait and headed strait for the boat. All 3 went right under the boat and came unbuttoned. What can I do to land these fish? Any advice?

Re: Swin Bait Question
You gotta reel fast and catch up with them, in order to put any pressure on them and get a decent hookset..Perhaps your gear ratio is just a tad low. Can't say for sure though..

Re: Swin Bait Question
I would try my best to keep the fish going in one direction. Any time you try to change the direction of a fish holding a swimbait it can and many times will come right out. Do your best to horse them in. Do not let them run if they come at you horse them or bring them up to the surface (you take control) then go left or right witch ever seems best at the time and keep dragging them in one direction till the net is ready. It may be chaos but that is part of the fun LOL
Best of luck to you.
