01 Tahoe better fuel economy question...

Post by jacob »

I'm looking to get some better gas mileage and save at the pump. anybody have any experience with these chips/programmers,are they worth the $300-500 bucks? anybody with a tahoe around the same year have any advice for better mpg gain? Looks like they make a few of these programmers now! I've been looking at the Hypertech and Cortex programmers would something like this be a good investment?

Hypertech 95 Silverdao Eprom chipped, 97 Suburban. They do improve fuel economy, I also run a K&N intake and a Borla exhaust on my truck and Gibson exhaust on my Suburban

Jacob,

If you end up installing ANY performance chip into your vehicle, and have ANY plans of ever returning to our great state of CALIFORNIA for good, do the research to see if they are legal in California. Otherwise, you will have to remove the chip for smog checks.

If you have not already purchased the hand held programmer, for about the same money get yourself a custom tune, The difference is like night and day.

Then of course there are always other options from mild to extreme pending how deep your pockets are, HA!

Me, I went to extreme's myself on my Silverado VHO, lets just say that I'm about as far from stock that you can go while still remaining street legal.
