Terrible news- Rick Hoover has passed away!

Post by Vince Borges »

I just got a call that Rick Hoover just passed away of a heart attack at work. For those of you that know Rick from the motherload region I can honestly say he was the absolute BEST jig fisherman I knew. May he rest in pease and may god bless and be with his family through this trying time. Gonna miss ya buddy.

Rick was the best front seat I ever fished behind, I think he taught me more about jig fishing than I would have ever learned on my own.
God Bless.

Yea he was one of the best Jig fisherman I ever knew, I learned alot by just watching him while we were pre-fishing for tournaments. My prayers are with his family at this most difficult of times. Sorry to here of his passing, I fished my first tournament as a am with Rick ( Nor Cal) at Don Pedro about 20 years ago. Never forget he had 2 fish and we pulled up to a rock wall across from Hatch and with 15 mins. left he pulled 3 fish up to 4 pounds on a jig in a mudline, he ended up in 3rd for that tournament, since that day I was hooked....

I drew him at Camanche one time. I was pretty green and he really tried hard to get me a limit even to his own detriment. God bless him and his family!

I drew Rick during a Federation tourney year's ago at Melone's. And yes! He was an awsome jig fisherman and a true gentleman. I remember hand landing a beast! for him that day. It was over 8lbs! Alway's smiling and a pleasure to fish with. God bless the Hoover family. Our thought's and prayer's are with you.
