We are supposed to have some constant days 110f days like back in May of some years passed of '91, '93, '95, '98 and '03.
Had a one week hot spell last year of 114 in August last year-- and that was it.
If the pattern of last year carries on into this year with the Tuna so far off shore this late in the year-- Look like another COLD and Drought rain season with no El Nino in sight.
Usually we have been playing on the sand beaches of the Sac River by June with flat passages there and back from Oakley.
That has not happend once for us this year- at least with anything consistant with my off-days.
What are your thoughts?

You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.
Errrrr uuuuuhhhh... which delta are you fishing,,, last year we had a record two weeks straight over 100 in july... and I had the most outrageous pg&e bill to prove it....... followed by one of the coldest winters I can remember....... this year's been very mild by comparison
Yup I agree with the others... STOP FISHING THE DELTA!,,, there's no more fish LOL
Hello Dan. My thoughts are, your post title says "Winds", but your thread talks about temps ? I think your saying that the Delta is not usually as windy when its 112 degrees. Now while this might be true, 112 degrees is not very much fun to fish in either.
Anyway, while I would agree that we have had an unusally mild Summer so far (temp wise), I live in Suisun City.... right smack in the middle, of the same wind tunnel that has been driving you crazy on the Delta, and comparing this year to the last 40 (strictly from a wind standpoint) it seems about the same as it always has. Pretty much a hurricane every day ! Chicago ain't got nothing on us ! They just beat us to the nick name "the windy city".
Nice thing for me though, I can get up in the morning, look out the back window at the trees whipping around, and know that "just about any place I'm likely to be going fishing" is going to be a lot less windy, if not flat calm !
The only time I really get hard core on the Delta, is Fall through late Winter, and fortunately for me, thier are more flat calm days on the Delta then (90% of them), than any other time of year.
But I hear you Dan, I hate wind.

Please forgive my lack of inteligent typein' ... It is definately not the first- nor will be the last thing pointed out about my abilities on a PC.
The years of the high Summer temps as noted above- were followed by record rains and warm winters. I work outside nights and day so the extreamly cold ones stick in my mind as the drought years and those were precluded by "very cool summers".
I hunt up very high for Mulies and in deep off the normal path of others for seclusion on a normal year. If this pattern keeps up they will be down low as they will not need any of natures A/C and will have to seek more water than they can suck from the Nutra in the Alpine groves above 9k'. -- That is a drought year in the prelude........ and I honestly believe we will see record low temps and minimal lack of rainfall for our resivors, delta and lakes this next comming fall/winter season.
--Hope I typed my thoughts out better this time around ??

It has been over 100 for 3 weeks now! I have the $500 PG&E bill to prove it! I set the A/C to 79 and it kicks on at 10 am and doesn't quit until 8pm. I am insulated and double payne windows!
I have noticed NO wind this year up here. Normally we have some windy days.
Don't be lame. It's just fishing; you are not the new mesiah you know! Check your attitude at the door Mr. Spinners on da boat trailer.
have been a lot milder than May, June and early July. During that spell, it seemed the more the wind blew, and it blew a ton during this period, the better the fishing was on the River. The past 3 weeks, I have seen fog on the river almost every morning, a few days where it was like pea soup. Along with that comes cooler night temps, then a drastic jump to the high 80s to mid to upper 90s. The winds have been mild by comparison, except between 4:00pm-10:00pm it's been blowing about 15-20, then dies in the evenings.
This has certainly changed the bite out there, I'm wishin though that the wind would come back! HAR!
My PG&E got to a record 79 dollars..The benifet of living at 3200ft...Fished at Salt Springs yesterday and it was 106..I love fishing in the heat..Not one boat on the lake...Hey Cooch when are you inviting me down to fish.."A guides fun day out"..I will return the favor my man..
I think I discussed this before when this subject came up. When we have this kind of summer - which is rare - you just need to look north!! The number of weather fronts that hit the Pacific Northwest basically determine the kind of summer weather we have. This summer the tail end of many fronts up north have kept the hot weather a bit east of us and therefore we have been influenced more by the Pacific ocean weather - cool and foggy. That cool weather is delivered by wind! Today, the Sac valley cooled by an amazing 25 to 30 degrees (Sunday). That cool air was delivered by 30 to 40 MPH winds - amazing!! Last year we had about 17 to 18 days over 100 degrees, this year - about 6 or 7!
It has been so cold here these last 3 days that my wife has actually become frigid !!
