I don't have the new Curado but they seem like a quality reel for the money. I know I'm probably like the billionth person to say this but look into the Revo SX and STX before you buy anything else at that price point. Keep in mind the higher the gear ratio the lower the mechanical advantage so you will lose a little power and gain a little speed with the 7:1. I see it as a matter of preference. I like to fish 7:1 with buzz baits but if I'm going to throw big walking baits I go 6.4:1.

I bought the SX and STX and premier. I couldnt sell them fast enough. They cast awesome in a 0-5mph wind. But any breeze and you are gonna be tightening friction wheel or pickin out a backlash. See you need the brakes maxed out to cast. They are pointless, I would much rather have the manual adjust brakes from Shimano.

The e7 is perfect for what you want and you'll love it.

Seriously stick with shimano and call it a day. Customer service is second to none. They use quality parts and are some SMOOTH reels. Set 2 brakes and unless you have 20+ you wont need to touch anything but the friction.
