Theft- Boat cleaned out at Angels Camp Travelodge

Post by kimmie2u »

My husband stayed at Travelodge in Angels Camp last night and his truck and boat were broken into. All tackle gone and rain gear too, in addition to many personal items. A police report has been made and the hotel is searching surveillance cameras but so far it appears there are blinds spots in the upper parking lot.

That sucks!
If they knew where the blind spots were, it sounds like an inside job.

The guy at The front desk wasn’t sure how to view all cameras. They will have some else look today that knows how to search the history.

This day and age you need a baby monitor in the boat and vehicle to alert you if anyone is attempting to break in. Monitors are inexpensive and portable.
Sorry to read about your theft and hope they catch the crooks!

No doubt about it, thieves suck! If we are going to travel with our rigs, about all we can do is make stealing more difficult and have good insurance. The baby monitor idea is an excellent one. I also like the Loc-R-Bar, have had one on two previous boats:

https://www.amazon.com/Loc-R-Bar-Alarm- ... B00D3LT73E

It costs less than a rod and reel and at least makes it harder to get at your stuff. Would likely send a thief on to another target, especially with the alarm lock.

Really sorry to hear about the theft in Angels Camp. I have stayed at that Travelodge in the past without problems. Will be more wary now for sure.

UPDATE! An arrest was made today and a few of our items have been found! They are holding the items as evidence until trial. Thank God they caught the scum! Pretty sure there’s more than one, praying they are found, and hope to get more of our stuff back. Thank you Angels Camp police department for your diligence!

That's great news! And I hope the motel will make adjustments that will reduce the chances of it happening again.
