...Those of us who live and breathe bass think that the world revolves around us, but in truth, it does not. I have vague memories of an ESPN sketch from years ago where they traveled the streets of Kalamazoo and most interviewees could identify Derek Jeter, but few could identify fellow hometown hero KVD. That may have shifted a little, but if laymen are likely to recognize anyone it’s the YouTubers or maybe “that guy who screams ‘it’s a giant’ when he catches one.” While we’re a multi-billion dollar business, in the grand scheme of things we’re still small fish.

Does this have a point ??? We’re just a bunch of nobodies? I don’t care for soccer but that doesn’t mean it’s not important to people…this is what I’d expect from Facebook or Tic Toc not WB …

I have only been bass fishing since 1955 and grew up in SoCal (Big Bear lake) a multi species lake. Bass were the primary fish I targeted over 6 decades but like the majority of California anglers we fish for both fresh water game fish and salt water game fish. Some of us are skilled fly fishers, off shore tuna and Marlin anglers, High Sierra back packing for Golden trout and Brook trout, lakes for Brown trout, Lake trout and Rainbow trout.
I was a partner in a 52’ Pacifica tournament Marlin boat, fished the Baja coast for 35 years, owned several bass boats and consider myself a multi species skilled angler. My Giant Bass threshold is 15 lbs, not inches and blessed to catch dozens of giant LMB with 5 between 17 lbs to 19 lbs. Never felt the bass angling world revolved around me, that is simple naive.

Here's a saying about musicians:
Someone who loads $5000 worth of gear into a $500 car to drive 100 miles to a $50 gig
Rings true for bass fisherman except alot of us can insert another zero or more to each one.
