Tourney payouts...
Tourney payouts...
I'm a little confused on why everyone is so interested and upset all the time about tourney payouts. Shouldn't anglers worry more about even getting to the payout bracket more than what if's? I enjoy fishing for money but my main concern is even getting the fish to make it to the winners circle. In fact one of my most enjoyable times was with a no payout club called Delta Bass Tactics where no money was even on the line just bragging rights. UNBELIEVABLE. Fishing for fun. Theres already enough mud slinging on here can't we all just get along...HA.

A very good point.
Re: Tourney payouts...
Yeah good point Justin. I guess payback could matter since you have a choice to fish many circuits, if payout matters to ya then you might wanna figure out which is better value.

I'm just not as talented/skilled as you and BDBR so having fun is my #1 priority. By the way how's the rehab going? I need to know when to stop fishing Tracy Bass.

Times are tight. Anglers & tournament organizations are trying to do the same with less....so sparks will fly.
I've been to a lot of weigh-ins, & there's sour grapes at almost every one...even charity events. This leads me to believe that part of the problem belongs to anglers. If you 'lose' (It's a win just to be able to show up...?...), shut up & take it like a man. If you have a question, ask it like an adult, or better yet read your paperwork & answer your own question. No excuse for going off half-cocked, & if you do, you deserve the flaming you'll get.
A lot of guys start out with a new, shiny boat on their minds. They forgot what got them into this sport in the 1st place. Once they're out of the 'boat race', these dudes tend to form a 'sour grapes' club. & where better to vent than the 'safe, anonymous' web? Seems to me that about 95% of all complaints have to do with misinformed anglers who could've found their answers themselves, had they just read the package they received at sign-up. Less about 'winning' & more about fishing, please.
Choose your circuits wisely...Read the fine print & know what the payouts, options, etc. are. Meet your local TD. Ask guys currently on that circuit. The good organizations always have open books, & will fess up immediately once they find a mistake, and fix it. The ones I worry about are the guys who waste their breath trying to justify their errors. Those names that keep popping up.....there's probably a reason. If you turn a blind eye to that, just be prepared.
With the economy carpetbagged the way it is, it's gonna be even tougher out there. The expense alone can be a source of frustration....There are a lot of guys on a shoestring already, so less anglers for lower payouts is a given. Float tubes anyone?...

fishing for "Bragging Rights" = no stress, more fun, making new friends........ doesn't get much better than that.

Re: Tourney payouts...
lionkiller, you are right on..I usually "carp" about my tournament performance, not about the performance of the tournament organization..Sure, I want to win, and sure I want to win a ton of money..Tournament organizations are in business to make money, most don't make all that much, but when someone feels they have been short changed or whatever, you sure do hear about it..If you aren't satisfied with the performance of any organization, don't fish it..I don't think you would continue shopping at an establishment, you felt was taking advantage of you..Yet we have some that repeatedly fish a circuit and complain every time of their did-satisfaction..If you aren't happy with the organization, don't fish their circuit..SIMPLE ANSWER,,
