trailer/Brush hogs or Baby brush hogs

Post by BMX Bassin »

I like the brush hogs as a jig trailer. I fished other trailers that worked like sweet beavers and robo craw trailers, but they break off on they first bite/fish. The brush hogs work good and last a few fish. I was thowing the baby brush hog catching 3-4 lb fish. Then I switched to the full size brush hog and started catching smaller fish. I might have been on bigger school of fish with the baby brush hogs, but it seemed funny that I started catching a smaller average fish with the big one. What do you guys think?................. I know I am gonna hear about the twin tail Yamamoto grub.....lol....

It probably had something to do with the ROF. Maybe the bigger one displaced more water and sank slower? Just a guess....

Just another chance to listen to the fish. Always listen to the fish not people. If the better size bass tell you small bait, listen. If the fish show you something like that just go with it. If that bite slows, its time to change. Don't just put the big hog on and stick with it and wait for that bite to start. Change with the fish best you can. There are a TON of questions asked here and the answer to most is "Let the fish show you what they want" You just keep casting baits they will hit the ones they like and work from there. Every day or hour may require change. Location is a big part of it too. Some locations hold big fish and some hold small fish and some don't hold fish much at all.

Best of luck!

Don.

I have been throwing brush hogs for trailers for some time now, it truly is a killer deal, especially if you go back east.
