UCSC Fishing Club

Post by tracker31 »

I know this is a shot in the dark, but thought it was worth a shot. After both watching/talking to anglers who fished in the recent FLW college tournament, I was interested in starting a club at Univ. of Santa Cruz. I will be attending UCSC starting next semester (Fall 2010), and I am looking for one other angler/tournament partner, which would make us eligbale to enter future tournaments. Because I will be attending the school knowing NOBODY, I was hoping that possibly somebody may know someone who attends/will be attending UCSC starting in the fall. Im looking for somebody with experience, or a desire to learn. Thanks for your help and hopefully I can get this started.

Good luck in your endevor. UCSC is mostly liberal arts but there might be a couple of students that might be interested. Speaking of 30 years of employmkent there as Senior Supt. Buildings and Grounds, I wanted to damn the sinkhold at Heller and put in Bass but alas, the powers that be said it would be to expensive. If I can help, let me know.

If you have any questions or concerns about the process of starting it let me know. I started the club at UC Davis and there are a lot of hoops the school makes you jump through. Make sure you complete ALL paperwork, don't risk it, ask for any forms that might be applicable. The UC system can be tough to work with, but if you play their game you will be ok.

You will have the best mascot name in all collegiate bass fishing. In fact, that should be a plastics color; Banana Slug. Reaction Innovations could do it as a sweet beaver color. LOL

You might want to wait and see how it goes before you form a club. My son is a freshman at Crown and he doesn't have much free time at the moment. Lot tougher than he expected.
