unclear on the math at oroville

Help me out on this one (from today's numbers)-inflow 5600cfs outflow 2900 cfs, lake level yesterday 697.98, lake level today 697.90. Afterbay came up only about 8-9 inches. What's missing?

That's an easy question to answer, all the fish are extremely thirsty due to the ongoing water crisis and are finnaly getting their fair share, untill now they've limited their intake of water to insure the fish in so cal lakes had plenty to drink.

You need to account for surface area in your calculations.

If they allow more water down the Feather River, the afterbay will not neccessarily rise. The Afterbay does it's own thing based on how much storage they want to carry.

I found out that you can’t rely on the CDEC website for accurate lake levels. As Gary posted above the level on the web site says 703.73’ for yesterday but if you call the hot line (530) 534-2307 yesterdays level was 697.90’ and today the hot line says 698.00’. What I would like to know is which one of these is most accurate.

It appears the Dailiy info on CDEC is correct and the hourly data flagged as in error. It appears the hourly sensor got stuck at 703.73.[/list]

When fish drink, their bodies weigh more and so therefore they displace more water in the lake and the level remains exactly the same unless there are some other factors afecting the level. I recognize that the Oroville fish have a lot of empathy for the southern Ca fish but they are not affecting the water level.
I usually try to stay clear of the contoversial issues but sometimes I just need to speak up

I just need that water to get back to 705....hmmm, right now or so. That's when they'll open the Lime Saddle launch again and I have a new OB I need to try out.


I hope those damn coho or kokanee or whatever they are have finally stopped biting everyting that hits the water too. At least they don't like jigs.

I got on a killer Coho bite last Christmas on shallow crankbaits in the back of creek channel canyons...had them up to 7 lbs

I'd take 7pounders, but what I've been getting are about half pounder planters I think and they eat the entire dame lure!!!
