The weather was a little cool in the AM with water temperature measuring 57 degrees with a light breeze at 5 miles per hour. As the day went on things started to warm up with water a water temperature of 63 to 64 degrees by day’s end.
Wa Meng Vue of Fresno, CA stumbled upon the winning limit of fish (4 fish limit for 68.5 inches) while graphing the lake with his Lowrance Elite 9 Ti 2. He reported that he didn’t have much of a plan so he began graphing looking for something different. He was able to locate two key rock piles in 15 feet of water that he rotated back and forth all day. He got 8 bites and caught 6 fish off of the rock piles. All fish were caught one of two baits. He would rotate between a Bold Bluegill worm on a dropshot rig and a TM Custom Jigs in California 420 with a Yamamoto Twin Tail Grub as a trailer. He reported that the jig caught the better fish including his 20.5-inch big fish.
Vue mentioned that he would like to thank Brigham Vang (the tournament director for CVKF) for all of his hard work putting on a tournament trail for the anglers as well as his wife and children for their support in letting him pursue his passion for kayak fishing.
