What are you favorit worm colors & size in Delta

Post by Guy Kelley »

I haven't used em in the Delta in a long time , just so
many other baits to use. But thought I would get back into it again.

Do you prefer to Carolina or Tex rig with brass and glass, and what style and size and color do you mostly use ?

Thanks a ton guys.

t-rigged weightless - Watermelon red flake

I'm throwing on braid and just watching my line.

Wacky rigs have been working a little on docks.

You want to put a beed between your sinker and hook -- Especially Tungston sinkers as they will cut your knot on your hook.

Flashback-

In the mid '80's in DBay .... I would tooth pick peg a 3/8th bullet weight about 4" -7" above with the 6" Mister Twister worms -- Purple with White tail and KILL them in the spring .... popping down the rocks in the deeper bays.

Tried it Thursday before last with the boys in the Zipper .... and blanked !! Image
You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

I dont do much standard wormin in the delta but when I do there are three colors I go to. Margarita Mutilator, Bold Bluegill, Rythum and Blues.

Now I do throw lots of creatures, and lizards, and gizzards and such in different colors but them there are my go to worm colors.

The facet bead I like to use has a lil mylar flash dot painted on it. The bead itself, does add a little clicking sound, it also adds that lil bit of red i like to have in all of my bottom bouncing baits like jigs and t-rigged plastics. The mylar dot, adds an additional atractor in that when the sun hits it just right, it throws off a lil flash that catches a bass' attention and can draw additional strikes from otherwise nonagressive fish.

Just a lil trick Mitch Kitchen taught me back in a BASSMASTERS event when he used that Iovinno S20 to break the original 3 day record for BASS, which was eventually broken by Robert Lee who won the tournament and Mick finished 2nd. I fished with Mick on Day 2, and became a believer in this set up then and have used it ever since with great results!

I'm assuming yer referring to jigs, in our Wadda jig, we have more than enough red flake in the head, the two eyes and the red thread used to tie all our jigs to give me plenty of red with out having to use a trailer with red in it!

I have not fished the delta in a year but as far as standard worms go I always liked the Power Worm in Tequila sunrise. Big dead ringers in june bug aren't bad either!

my favorite worm meaning just one or all?

for a texas rig worm i would go with a ZOOM dead ringer. many days saved by that worm.

split shot'n i like a large number of weenie worms in different colors. magic worms and keepers produce a few nice colors.
