Sunfish-Largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass, redear, bluegill and crappie.
I would rather jog home from my own Vasectomy than spend Saturday at the mall.

I understand that bluegill, bass, smallmouth and crappie are in the sunfish family...i guess what i was getting at more specificly...how many in the bluegill family...the redear and bluegill....are there anymore??...besides the little red dot on the side of the head is there any general color differences between these two??...I purchased a mattgill green sun fish color pattern but i wanted the male bluegill but they were out so I settled, i think this will effect my confidience while throwing this bait( we know how that goes), so i was just wondering if there is that big of a difference between the mattgill green sunfish color and the species of bluegill that swimm in the delta.

"Bluegill" isn't a family--it's the "common name" for just one species in the Centrarchid or sunfish family.BASSTUD wrote:I understand that bluegill, bass, smallmouth and crappie are in the sunfish family...i guess what i was getting at more specificly...how many in the bluegill family...the redear and bluegill....are there anymore??...
In addition to the Delta sunfish species already mentioned in posts above, add the following:
1. black crappie
2. white crappie
3. green sunfish
3. rock bass
4. warmouth

How about phrasing it like this? "Look, asshats, How many fish in the Delta look a lot like Bluegill?"
