Does anybody out their own or have onwed a charging system that recharges your boat batteries while your main motor is running on the water? It's called the Stealth 1. My trolling motor batteries have not been holding up lately, I only get about 5 hrs of run time. I figure if I had one of these charging systems I could get more battery life out of them while on the water. What do you think about this charging system? Would it be worth having on your boat?

Re: What do you think of the Stealth 1 charging system
Hi Dan,
I have been using it for over 6 years now. I am also the local rep in Socal. The unit works very well. It is light even if you add the AC unit to the system. You can see some pictures of it on my Facebook page or here... http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/58977625 ... 1?h=2c03bf
However, if you are only getting 5 hours, this may also mean your trolling motor batteries are getting weak. How old are your batteries and what kind of charger do you have today? How hard do you run your trolling motor during the day? If they are weak, the Steath 1 will only help slightly with your old batteries. You will likely need to replace your batteries.
One of the advantages of the Stealth 1 is that it helps make your batteries last much longer because they don't get as hot or gassed during recharge. Older style chargers often overcharge your batteries and reduce the life of the cells.
If you have any questions, feel free to call me at 818-448-3366.

Absolutely... I've had one on mine for 5 or 6 years and it works great.
When I first got it, we had a club tournament at Havasu. I purposely left the batteries off the charger prior to going, and the first morning I made a long run up to the London bridge and worked my way back down during the day. The trolling motor worked great all day and still had full power at the end.
I ran back to the campground and left the battery charger off overnight once more, and ran it hard the following day without issue. Trolling power was still full at the end of the second day.
To me, that was a great test and proved the value of the unit. I'm a believer.

Thanks guys for you're reply. Scottsweet, my batteries are about 5yrs old now and I have a 3 bank charger. I run my trolling motor hard when needed if it's pretty windy or if I'm fishing around allot of grass. Is there a rep in Norcal by any chance please let me know.
Thanks,
Dan

I called you back this evening and missed you. First, I would say your batteries are coming to the end of their life. There is only so much they can do. There is a local rep and I will find his name for you.bass343 wrote:Thanks guys for you're reply. Scottsweet, my batteries are about 5yrs old now and I have a 3 bank charger.
