Influence! My little Nephew wants to be like Skeet and judging from his first Bass fishing experience he's off to a good start.

Our day started off at 4am Saturday morning, when I woke Ian up he jumper out of bed with his jammies on grabbed his back pack and mumbled "ok Uncle I'll get dressed down stairs", I said, HOLD ON little buddy, we have time. So we went down stairs grabbed some food and we were off to Casitas. On the way to the lake I was hammered with questions about Bass fishing. Do bass guys always get up early, do Bass fight hard, can you eat them and are we there yet?. When we arrived at Casitas Ian sat up in his chair and started to look around at the sparkly boat parade, his head and eyes were moving around 100 mph this made a BIG impression on him. When getting to the parking lot Ian noticed Bill's BBZ boat so I introduced Ian to Bill. Once Bill said hello he hurried around his boat to find a hat for Ian, in an instant Ian had a BBZ hat from Bill, Ian was all smiles, thanks Bill.

Ian's first time on the water he wanted two things. Uncle can we go fast and I want to catch a fish. If you were there Saturday morning you would know that you couldn't go faster than 5 mph (I wasn't going to go fast as long as he was in the boat anyway) After the first hour Ian hooked up with his first fish a 1.5 lber, then a 2 pounder, then a dink, THEN little buddy hooked up with his biggest of the day, a 3.52 lber. By noon we had 4 keepers and 3 dinks in the boat, time for lunch.

Eating lunch and discussed the days fish and he said he couldn't wait till next weekends WON tournament and can we go fast and can I have an ice cream hmmm. We decided to fish for another hour then call it a day. He fell asleep going home with his BBZ hat on. It was a great day. As his mother said, today you created memories. Its an awesome feeling.

Look out next weekend guys, Ian getting ice cream at noon.

What an awesome story Lance!! It sure is fun taking the little ones fishing ain't it.... that story reminds me of fishing when I was younger with my father, then uncle.

when I was 15 I was still asking John Shaver for an Ice Cream on the way home from Casitas (that little A&W) and then falling asleep.... But I still fall asleep on the way home from the lake after fishing, driving or not.

Yes, he's fishing WON next week. Let me tell you guys, he's got the C-Rig down, but he wont tell you what bait he was using. If he does, well you know how we all tell the truth

I don't mean to jump on the ban wagon but I felt the need to mention another first hand experience with Mr Seimental . This guy has been more than generous with my son and other kids on several occasions . Becouse of Bill my 10 year old son has a Lamiglass tournament frog rod with an extended handle for swimbaits , a powell drop shot rod and a collection of BBZ swimbaits to his name . When it comes to the little guys and girls Bill always seems to find the time to chat , say hello and do what he can to bring a smile . Ata boy Bill ! That's what it's all about . Its this kind of involvment that insures the future of our great sport .

Ian's excitement about going fishing began as soon as he knew Uncle "Dude" was taking him. I picked him up Friday night and brought him to our house to spend the night before the big day. Ian had everything he needed in his backpack and was absolutely brimming with excitement. He loves his uncle and everything Lance does is fun as far as Ian is concerned. It was a challenge to get him to bed, but I told him the sooner he went to sleep, the sooner he would be going fishing. He is the easiest kid to be around though. He can hang out at our house anytime!

I have the pleasure of introducing Ian's sister to horses next week. Lance and I are determined to teach our young relatives to enjoy all of our expensive habits. I am not sure their parents will thank us, but the kids will have alot of fun.

He's a lucky kid to have such a good aunt and uncle and it's great that you take him out on the boat Lance. He'll never forget it and you are a hero in his eyes. Kind of lake my relationship with Ray L.

I wish I would have had someone to take me out like that when I was younger. Instead, I would just have mom drop me off at the lake for eight straight hours. I would spend most of my time throwing rocks and catching lizards, but every once in awhile I was able to focus on what I was really there for.

Maybe, he will keep it up in Arkansas. There are worse places to move to for bass fishing.
