The brood stock is here! ODWC Fisheries staff have pulled 100 Florida-strain largemouth bass from hatchery ponds. These brooders are mature fish weighing 4-6 pounds, and were released into Grand Lake. Even though this brood stock helped produce over 900,000 pure strain Florida LMB fry, their work isn't done as these fish will continue to produce bass in Grand throughout their life.
As for their fry, they will be grown to fingerling stage and then stocked in waters all throughout the state.
🚨 🚨 EDIT: The fish mentioned above were released in south Horse Creek, toward the main lake. This was deemed a good release site due to the quality habitat present, and the quick access to deep water and the main lake. Over the past six weeks, approximately 1,000 6-8 inch one-year-old Florida Largemouth Bass were stocked into Grand Lake, bringing the total number to about 1,100.

I don’t believe pure FLMB can survive in Grand Lake OK.
Texas raised FLMB F1’s that are acclaimed to colder water would be a better choice imo.
Reason is core body temperatures less then 45 degrees results in poor survival rates.

Are most Delta bass F1’s? I caught a 7-7 on the Delta about 25 years ago. At the time it was my PB and it’s the only fish I’ve ever had mounted. Based on the size of its mouth I’d swear it’s a pure northern strain. Is it possible I have a pure northern from that time period?

The easiest method to determine a Northern strain LMB is counting the lateral line pore scales; 59-68. 69-73 it’s. FLMB strain.
Delta is so big and NLMB have been there since the early 1900’s. FLMB were introduced around 1971. How intergraded the NLMB and FLMB would take a study to determine.
