Where can you fish without a fishing license in California? Did you know that a fishing license is not required when recreationally fishing from a public pier in ocean or bay waters? CDFW has produced a new online resource for locating these free piers, jetties and breakwaters! Even though a fishing license is not required, note that all other regulations apply (including minimum sizes, bag limits, report cards and seasons). In addition to a list of public piers, there is a zoomable map showing exactly where each public pier, jetty and breakwater is located.
