Re: Where is the Outcry?

The more I read, the more I despise [the people who have hijacked] both parties. This could have been written about the last administration and their war and spending by changing a few words here and there. I picked this up from a Minnesota Newspaper.

I will be 50 in a few short months. In my life time I have seen Nuclear fall out shelters come and go, the Iron curtain rise and fall, a war fought (and lost by politicians) to stop the domino effect of communism in south east asia. As a young boy and young man it seemed that our worst fear as a nation was Communism. My understanding of communism is socialism enforced by government, a government (of elitist) that dictates what it considers good for the whole vs what individuals consider best for themselves.

What is currently happening in this country, the reversal of independence to dependence on what can government do for me is not only the first steps toward Socialism, but major leaps towards socialism. Was this the "Change you can believe in" that you voted for in Nov.? What is happening is not what our founding fathers intended when framing the Constitution (Government had a very limited role). As Reagan said in a speech, "Big Government isn't the answer to the problem, it is the problem".

I look at my children and grand children and can not help but consider this curse of National debt we have bestowed upon them. For 240 years, America has been the greatest Nation on earth. A nation built upon by individuals, working as a whole, with the knowledge that through hard work, they could better themselves and make a better life for their families.

There was no transparency in this "stimulus" bill, it was jammed through congress and senate with unbelievable speed. It was sold over and over to the American public based on fear-"catastrophe like we have never seen before" if it wasn't passed immediately. No one that voted yes or no for it could possibly have had time to read it and debate it before the rushed vote. Was it a catastrophe about to happen or the possibility that our economy might just start to show signs of rebounding with out it?

What caused this mess in the first place? Wasn't it a government mandate (community re investment act) to banks and mortgage companies ( Government backed by Freddie and Fannie) that allowed people to buy homes that they had no business buying in the first place, that they realistically could not afford, that drove up and up the housing market till it collapsed? And now we are doing the very same thing that got us in this mess in the first place-government backing, allowing people to stay in foreclosed homes that they never could have afforded in the first place and we, the working tax payer picking up the tab. I started married life and my family in an apartment before I could afford to buy my first home, allot of people do. Owning a home is not a goverment given right, it is earned through hard work. I worked 2 jobs for 10 years so I could buy my first home, it didn't kill me.

The silent majority is scared to speak, it has been forced into silence for too long in fear of not being Politically Correct. Plain and simple common sense has been silenced in fear of offending.

My only answer to myself, my family, and my friends is get involved. Call your congressman, call your senator-if you don't agree with what is going on-make sure they know it. What do politicians fear most? -not being re elected. We can no longer afford to be complacent, we can no longer afford not to be involved, we can no longer afford to be ignorant to what is going on around us. If the working/tax paying class does not get involved-now, I fear we will loose the greatest nation GOD has ever allowed, and we will loose what so many have died to defend-freedom, which is the United States of America (not the United Socialist States of America).
I pray it is not to late.

Because I feel I voted for the lesser of two evils. I understand you have an opinion that differs.

Gregg, I have great respect for your views.

I voted for what I saw as the lesser of two evils as well and it wasn't Obama.

I wasn't under any illusion that that my freedom was safe in the hands of either party, but just that it would take the right a little longer to get around to making me completely subservient to the government.

When Obama was elected all I could do was hope the right's fears were unfounded and that we could take him at his word but that is VERY RAPIDLY proving to not be the case.

I sure wish Ron Paul could have got a bit more traction.

I wish I'd been smart enough to realize Ron Paul isn't just an alarmist idiot I thought he was.

Dumbest opinion of someone I've ever formed.
