Wheres the best surf..

fishing for some stripers. It will be my first time out.

what kind of bait and/ or lures works best..

my Uncle (R.I.P.) left me a few surf rods/reel combos and I wanna put them to use!!

any help/hints/tips would be great!!!

Anywhere from San Francisco to Monterey. Find a beach and go for it. They are spread out all over right now.

I know its a late response but the fishing at night is usualy better and I use Pencil Poppers in white with the red head and fish trap's.

Krokodiles spoons work well also and the best color I have found is red and chrome. Its fun but you will have to work for them kind of a fish for every thousand casts.

You do want the water to be semi rough if you fish during the day.
