Which flourocarbon is better?

Post by edge »

For 8 and 10lb test, on a spinning reel, which line is better for finesse/dropshotting/tube dragging?

Thanks for the opinions.

Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

It cost more but Sun Line is better than Seaguar & P-Line. I voted for the Seaguar because that's what I use when I don't have Sun Line or time to get .

Sugoi is better than the choices given, and so is Seguar Invisx.

Like Marc suggests, you want the best, go with the Sugoi. Yamamoto now has special 5 & 8# Dropshot filler spools. Sugoi is made by the same parent company that makes Seguar. A major player in the fluorocarbon developement today, Kureha Chemicals. Sugoi is the pefect 10, the original Seguar a 7 and the new InvisX an 8/9! I feel P-line is too soft and therefore is lacking in sensativity.

One thing I would highly recommend, when putting fluorocarbon on a spinning reel, invest in KVD's new product called LINE & LURE Conditioner. It will allow you to manage any fluoro on a spinning reel far better than when used straight out of the box. I've been using this fer about two weeks now, I'm experiencing far less overspins and memory with my fluoro, it's amazing. So I put it on my spinning rod too, what a difference in how the line comes off now. And this stuff works magic with braided line. This product is the "REEL" deal and compensates for a bunch of minor inconviniences we experience on the water day to day with our lines!

Bass Pro flouro is as good as all the rest, at less than half the price. Just put a good stretch on it, letting out a cast and a half, before you go out, and use the KVD coditioner. I used to use Sniper. Great line. But the BPS is every bit as good.

I'm not real happy with any of the Flouro lines, but I won't fish without flouro leaders. For Dropshoting and splitshoting I use Fireline with a #8/ 50lb. SPRO swivel and 8 or 10 lb. Seguar Flouro leader. The leader material tends to be more abrasion resistant than flouro line and with the Fireline I can feel more subtle bites and get much better hook sets.

In the Delta I use the same setup, but with 30lb Fireline and 20-25lb. flouo leader.

I agree with Cooch and Marc....Sugoi is

the very best....and worth the extra expense because it lasts for years.

I haven't tried the KVD line conditioner, but I will, on Cooch's recommendation.

The new Gamma Edge is super strong..They make the stuff themselves..I do wish they made 4lb. test, because it is so strong it would work great on the clear water lakes..
