White jigs...when, where, and how?
So I've got a few white jigs in my jig box that have been given to me over the last few years. However, I've never used them...mainly because I just don't know when I ever would use them or the most productive way to use them. I would imagine that the best time to use them would when the bass are keying in on baitfish, and probably the best way to fish them would be to swim it. Am I right? What about trailer colors? I also have very little experience with swimming a jig. Any tips on the how-tos of swimming a jig? I've caught a few fish swimming a jig, but not enough to have much confidence in what I am doing...thanks guys...

I only have one remaining, but back in the mid-south all we did was swim them with a white trailer, just like using a chatterbait, except no chatter..When I got out here to California, and started reading here on the forum about using jigs, it was my first experience doing anything with them other than just toss and wind them in..

I'm with Mark...I have 2 white jigs in my box, 1/4 and 3/8 oz. I have caught many bedding bass, mostly in clear water, with white jigs. I seem to have better luck with bright neon colored trailers. Specifically 4 or 5" single-tail grubs. If you swim them through the bedding areas, you're likely to get bit.

Right now on the delta you can swim a white jig paired with a white yamamoto single tailed grub as a trailer and smash em. Granted they may not be giants; the bite has been pretty consistent. Fish it just as you would your favorite spinnerbait.
Re: White jigs...when, where, and how?
I use white jigs during the spawn only because I can see the bait, not because I think white is what they want. But it works.
During summer I use white jigs and mostly swim them under docks. Others talk about just straight reeling it like a spinnerbait or chatterbait. But what I do is fish it just like a crappie jig. After tossing under the dock Ill let it sink to whaterver depth, then raise my rod to 12 oclock letting the jig pedalum back towards me (maybe occassionally shaking lightly, but not moving the rod at all). Once it swings back a bit Ill lower my rod to reel in some line, then get my rod back to 12 oclock and just let it swing towards me again. Bites always come when Im at 12 and the bait is swinging towards me. Its a do nothing technique and is identical to crappie fishing.
